Got this through Facebook, of course where else? I like it's nostalgic feel and the fact that they aren't all in sync with each other like the girl groups of today.

Gwanghwamun Plaza Video

My goal was to make this video of it raining in Gwanghwamun plaza and capture the craziness that is Seoul's rainy season. But alas, it didn't rain while I attempted this. Ah well, what you have above is a short little video I made as I am getting use to the new Final Cut Pro.

This was on Friday and I couldn't help but notice the hues playing outside. It was a welcome show of color.

Mom Sent a Package

A while ago my mom sent a package with all sorts of stuff in it for JH and I. She mostly wanted to send him good wishes for his birthday, which was back in April.

Even Tom got in the act...

Last summer I visited my mom and JH got her a Starbucks mug with a Seoul logo on it. So it was fitting that she sent him a Florida Starbucks mug.

It's always fun to get a loving package from back home.

Gallery Imazoo in Gangnam

Last weekend I met up with an associate from Artpoli, who helped me set up something on the website. Afterwards, we took a little tour of a gallery nearby. It is called, "Gallery Imazoo" and has a showroom on the basement floor and a cafe up top.

The artwork on display were paintings by the artist, Lee Yu Mi. The subject matter mostly being figurative and very colorful.

I was pleased with the artwork, but not overly taken by the works. They seemed to reference Picasso, but altogether done nicely. Also I was wondering where she got her references from since most of the figures were not Korean, mostly people with blonde heads. I wondered if this was some kind of aspect of her statement. I look forward to going to more shows at this gallery, as now know where to find it.

My friend and I parted ways and as I waited for my ride I took in the local Gangnam architecture.

It's hard for me to describe how to get to this gallery, but if you get off at Yeoksam station and go out of Exit 4 and up to the POSCO building, you want to travel in the alleyways around there. Anyways, it's something to consider that there are several galleries in the back alleys of Gangnam.

Patbingsu Quest: Homil Hodu Cafe

The quest continues for this summer's really amazing patbingsu. I am bringing you another one from my neighborhood. This time from an unlikely place, a cafe that sells walnut pies and treats. I like hodu pies but usually in the winter time or around Thanskgiving, as they remind me of back home. When I saw the patbingsu picture on dispaly I figured why not give it a try.

I have to say this one was pretty good, reasonably priced and not too big. What made it stand out from others was the powder put on top, which I am guessing was ground up hodu mill. hmm

Whenever I eat a patbingsu I always wish they put in more of the chewy rice cakes inside, and this one only had about 5 - 8 of them.

Was the Homil Hodu patbingsu this summer's best? Nope....but it came pretty close. Let's hope I try some outside of my neighborhood next time.
